How the apple won the race!!There was once a beautiful princess who lived in a castle on top of a hill. She was called the Beauty of Bath.
One day, she went to see a farmer and saw three animals and challenged them to a race. The animals were a pig, a goat and a cow.
The Princess told the animals that the winner would become the Princess' pet and live in her castle. The pet would be treated like a human and have the best of everything: - gold leads and a jewelled collar. The pig, the cow and the goat got really excited and accepted the challenge.
The time of the challenge was set.It was a Hoary Morning when the race set off on Hangy Down. The pig, the goat and the cow lined up, watched by Granny Smith, Tom Putt and Bess Pool.
The cow and the goat were first off the mark until the pig ran and jumped onto the cow's back. Now the cow and the pig were in the lead. Suddenly, the pig's nose started to twitch as he smelt the delicious apples in Polly Whitehair's orchard.
He jumped off the cow's back and started to gobble up the apples. Then the pig looked up and saw the cow and the goat in the distance. He decided to run through the orchard for a shortcut. He ran as fast as he could and as the animals neared the finishing line, with an apple on the ring at the end of his nose, his nose, his nose, there was nothing to choose between them. Nobody was quite sure who had won ....IT WAS A PHOTO FINISH
The Beauty of Bath announced that the pig had just managed to win because he had an apple stuck on the ring at the end of his nose, his nose, his nose.
The moral of the story is : -
Sometimes unexpected events can reap their rewards.
